Affordable Adventure Jeep Wrangler Project

Updated: Aug 29, 2019

We wanted to build an affordable adventure ready 4 door Jeep Jk Wrangler , we found this locally owned Wrangler in stock condition from a local new car dealer trade in inventory and started with a full mechanical inspection which lead to some standard maintenance and repair, basically we wanted a Jeep that was ready to hit the road or trail without worry.

We found this vehicle in a local dealers trade-in inventory , locally owned , non Canadian , stock condition Jeep Wrangler x . Here is a shot just shortly after purchase.

After Mechanical inspection was complete , we began by removing all the factory plastic exterior parts and started searching for quality ,functional parts that would keep us in the budget we needed to keep this build affordable. We started with a GoRhino Front stubby bumper paired with Led Fog lights and a Westin 9500lb winch.

GoRhino Front stubby

We really liked this hidden drawer feature for recover gear and tools !

Next was the rear bumper , which was a pretty easy choice for quality and price we went with the Smitybuilt rear bumper complete with a 2" receiver.

From there we moved onto the running board / rock sliders and for that we went with the Body Armor 4x4 step which makes for a nice medium duty rock slider and an excellent surface to access the roof top tent cover.

Next in line was removing the stock plastic fenders and adding a set of Westin metal tube fenders which completely changed the look , added body protection and gave us more clearance for the 35" Atlas Priva M/T tires. Also to give us the clearance for the 35" tires and off road capability we installed a 3" Ready lift.

What build isn't complete without a good set of off road lighting , we went with Quake led which is a mid grade led lighting company that stays within our budget and gives a good quality light with a 3 year warranty , so not cheap amazon lights but also not mega dollar rigid or baja designs lighting. we were very happy with the look and function of the 6 light combo we have set up . We left the interior fairly stock except for a new Bedrug carpet kit , Warrior products rear tailgate table and a Switch panel system for the lighting installed and future accessories ready to add!

And to save the best for last we added a Smittybuilt full safari rack outfitted with a Freespirit high country 80 series roof top tent !

We wanted this build to be ready to run , basically throw your bags in and a cooler then hit the open road or trails with room to sleep 4-5 and the on and off road capabilities to take you to the most beautiful places on or off the map.

We really enjoyed this build and we cannot wait until the next one!
